3- Gladiator school

Thallus slowly makes his way out of the city of Capua, but as he makes his way to the outskirts of the city he met by a group of men on horses. Who question his tattered clothing and come to the conclusion that his is indeed an escaped slave. The horsemen capture Thallus and sell him into the Gladiator school located in Capua. Thallus quickly notices the sounds of metal clashing and fierce grunts as he is brought into the school. There he sees a group of men clashing, men who he assumed were criminals just like him, prisoners of war and slaves. Either conquered or sold for the purpose of training into savage fighters which brought in a lot of money at the cost of risking their lives at each battle, not knowing if they would live another day or be able to return to their homeland. Despite the glory and prestige, an ordinary fighter's life was bleak. They were sealed up in their cells at night because they were prisoners, only to be woken up at the crack of dawn every morning. They had better sanitation and food than the ordinary person when they were seen as high assets, but they were not able to indulge these extras, with speech limited at mealtimes and those who were not studying still shackled. As night commences, Thallus recalls the intense discussion which occurred earlier during meal time. At the center of this discussion is a man called Spartacus. Thallus notices that Spartacus is extremely knowledgeable about the functioning of the Roman army, which prompts him to question whether he had served the army before. Spartacus confirms Thallus’s assumptions, that he indeed served the Roman army, which he deserted and led bandit raids from which after he was caught and sold as a slave. Thallus confident in Spartacus due to his past military experience, agrees to band along with him and escape the Gladiator school. The same night, all the gladiators break out.
